Slovakia is one of the new member countries of the EU joining on 1.5.2004. It borders with Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine and for this reason it is also known as a crossroad for trading. It has a stable economic system and entry into the Euro is anticipated in 2009.

The home currency is Slovak Crown but already many companies are trading in euros to encourage foreign investors. Slovak metalworking companies have taken a leading position for the supply of manufactured products within the central Europe. This is attracting large manufacturers from all over the world, including global leaders in car manufacture.
